Dr. Mike Larocque

BSc (Hons), MD, CCFP (SEM) Sports Medicine Physician

Mike Larocque is a sport and exercise medicine physician, registered with both the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario and the College of Family Physicians of Canada. He completed his sport and exercise medicine training at McMaster University in 2020. Prior to that. he completed his family medicine residency at Queen's University, medical school at McMaster University, and undergraduate education at the University of Toronto. Mike has worked with high-level athletes in football, hockey, rugby, and various individual sports. He is currently the lead physician for the Durham College Lords and the Ontario Tech University Ridgebacks. Mike is an advocate for active rehabilitation and education in the treatment of both acute and chronic injuries. When needed, he employs interventions such as joint/bursa injections (for example, with cortisone) and trigger point injections to augment recovery.

Mike is also privileged at Lakeridge Health, where he works as an emergency department physician. Outside of medicine, Mike's time is mostly devoted to his two young children and Miniature Australian Shepherd, but he does not miss an opportunity to unwind on a baseball diamond or sheet of fresh ice.
